we're talking about roadblocks to joining a community. Once a community forms, then its up to the community on how it works. So it might be that there is a single focus of the community (think David Koresh) or that the individual is most important (think of an artist commune - it exists to allow individuals to become better artists through sharing). In most communities, it is somewhere in between (take a basketball team for example), and its in that balance, where most of the potential dangers to the growth of the community lie.

Ok, so where is the space for the individual within a community? How much should those already in a community focus to be sure that the needs of each individual are best met to keep them working well? (I'm thinking of my Small Learning Community at school here...) I guess the question is, what makes a roadblock a true roadblock, and what makes it a unifying challenge?

Dude - I am pinging Angel this week about pickin a spot for dinner - DEF goin to Gnomedex and probably going to BlogWorldExpo as well - we need to catch up, I want to interview you on the topic of startups :)

not quitting blogging, just can't find the time or the stuff I want to write about (cant blog workstuff due to either NDA or stealth-mode work, tired of social-this-that-the-other-thing - completely digging what you have been writing lately).

Gonna get my groove back after BlogHer - it was very inspiring
