Happy Blog Day – 2 Days Late

I am never on time for any thing that appears to be holiday related. My sisters get excited when I wish them Happy Birthday in the correct month. My grandmother fains a heart attack when I am within 3 years of her actual age.

So its really no surprise that I am two days late on Blog Day.

But, now that I am here, we can get the party started! Where’s the cake?

No cake? Well, then, here are 5 blogs that I read religiously regularly (alliteration is my friend):

absurdities! – Jen Nedeau (@humanfolly on twitter) and the Dionysian Princess (Im not 100% sure what that means, but I think it involves naked men and grapes) on her blog writes about real topics from feminism to politics to Chick-fil-A. Unfortunately, since she is on WordPress.com, she cant have Lijit on her blog, but shoot, we cant all be perfect.

Tyler Willis – Just because Tyler (@tylerwillis on twitter) calls his blog Tyler Willis, and it has a picture of Tyler on it, doesnt mean he is self centered. Not the fact that he has a picture on there that juxaposes him with Pete Cashmore. Neither is the fact that he often refers to himself in the third person. Tyler Willis dont play that. But, Tyler is one of the sharpest minds I know. When he posts something, I tend to read it. And, honestly, if he reblogs a post or tweet of mine, it means more to me than Business Week or MSNBC or other such useless old media. (He is on tumblr, so I have NO IDEA why he doesnt have Lijit on his blog…)

Prey For The Hunted – My friend Matt Hessler (@fasterstill on twitter) writes about fashion, movies, and other crap from a male perspective. He finds and comments on really interesting things. While I am a Fashion Icon its nice to see other folks get excited about the space. Matt and my favorite tattoo artist, Fish, have started their own clothing line which of course, can never touch the stylings of Micah Chic:

DC Concierge – My friend Shana (@dcconcierge on twitter) writes about things to do while dead in DC. (wait, I think thats a movie with Andy Garcia about Denver…) Honestly, its an interesting take on the sights and sounds of Washington, DC. I used to live out there (from 1993-1997) and so its interesting to me to see places I used to go (or wanted to go, based on my financial situation) still are around and are hot spots. Perhaps, we will see a Boulder Conceirge soon. It would be easy, since it would include a lot of cut and paste. (We are even going to bring up Lijit…)

Harper Reed: Tech, Phones, Yo-yoing and Death Metal – There are two cool people to come out of Greeley, CO. Mike Bucks (@mikebucks on twitter) is one.

Cant remember the other one.

Harper (@harper on twitter) is the CTO of skinnycorp (they run Threadless, the folks that make 95% of the tshirts I wear). I met him at the first Boulder TechCocktail, and we have become friends over the past year. Probably one of the most difficult blogs for me to read because of its technical content, but at least I am learning words that help me talk to developers. Words like “Jolt Cola,” and “python” (without snickering). I feel super techy when I am done reading. (Wouldnt you imagine someone so techy would be able to install Lijit? There is a super easy Wordpress search plugin after all. Perhaps I will stick with Engadget for my tech stuff.)

I wish I could list the rest of my friends blogs that I read each day. Currently I am around 100 blogs a day from people I know and consider friends.

Happy Blog Day!

(Oh, and can someone tell me who the hell this Chris Brogan guy that everyone is talking about it is? Also the Queen of Madagascar or something like that? They keep telling people how cool I am, and I need to get them to stop lying. I have a douchebag rep to keep up after all…)

  • thanks for the blog love! and as for your question about dionysian - there are several definitions you can implicate with my blog alias, but here's the one I identify with most:

    http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/dionysian
    3. often dionysian In the philosophy of Nietzsche, of or displaying creative-intuitive power as opposed to critical-rational power.

happy belated blog day to you too! keep up the good work :)
  • interesting. So you would rather be "creative-intuitive" vs. "critical-rational"? I guess that would hold true for me too, guess thats why I like reading your drivel. I mean well written and thought out posts... :) Jen, your written stuff rocks. Keep it up!
  • Apparently I missed Happy Blog Day due to a vacation -- or due to a lack of me being "hip" or "with it." Soon, I'm going to have to start asking what the kids say these days -- scary thought.

Thanks for the kind words -- and if you point me to the code to add lijit to my tumblr -- and I'm capable of implementing it without making it look like shiitake -- then I'll do it. Lord knows I've spent enough time looking for "that video I tumbled like three months ago, you know, the one with the guy in the office?"

    :)
