I got back from SXSW late last week (and was immediately hit with SXSWSARS), and realized that over the next 3-4 months, I will be going to or speaking at quite a few conferences. Which means I have to get much better at the pre-post and the post-post.

Usually, I am quite bad at both, but for Web 2.0 Expo, that is all going to change. Why? Well, the wonderful Janetti, the community director of the Expo asked me to join her Web 2.0 Expo 2009 Conference Bloggers group. In exchange for helping get the word out (and giving a conference discount and a free pass), I get into the conference (otherwise how I would be able to write about it?).

Which is pretty cool.

In the interest of information, here is some things you get with a Expo Hall or Web2Open registration:

* Daily Keynotes – hear our Web 2.0 Expo luminaries present their conversations and high order tidbits of knowledge.
* Launch Pad – after a rigorous selection process by esteemed industry judges, watch five lucky startups present their demos.
* Tekzilla Live! – watch internet television live as the hosts of Tekzilla bring you hands on reviews of the latest gear, tips and
tricks that improve the tech you already own and conversations with informative experts

Be sure to stop by our expo floor for special events and to see the Web 2.0 products and services that help bring the power of less into your business.
* Expo Hall – opens daily at 10:30am. See schedule for closing times.
* Booth Crawl – vendor-sponsored libations for your networking pleasure.
* Non-Profit Pavilion – start here to see how you can get involved in local non-profits.
* Solutions Showcase Theater – a series of 10 minute presentations from sponsors and exhibitors. Product demos, real world case studies, and networking.

Since Web 2.0 Expo’s conference is carefully curated to bring you the best and brightest industry speakers, here are your free opportunities to attend some of our sessions:
* Government 2.0 Track
* Sponsored Sessions
* Web2Open Hybrid Sessions

No Web 2.0 Expo would be complete without programs and areas dedicated to the community that’s shaping our industry. So what do we have for you?
* Web2Open & the Open Lounge – our official on-site unconference is back with community-driven sessions, speeddating Q&A and a casual, wi-fi equipped lounge where you can get your chill on.
* Sunlight Hackathon – what’s one easy way a developer can start building the new economy and society we sorely need? Participate in the Open Government movement, hackers wanted.
* Community Room – sign up for an on-site meeting place for your organization, or if you’re looking for a quiet place to film some
video.
* Birds of a Feather Sessions – continue focused discussions and network with like-minded folks by attending (or creating) an evening BoF.

I plan on being in SF from April 1 – 4 (maybe the 5th so I can go down to San Jose and see my family), and will be at the conference pretty much non-stop if you are looking for me. Of course, use CONTXTS and text micah to 50500 for my contact info or follow me on twitter.

For those that saw the free pass line, well Ive never done a giveaway on my blog, so lets do this. Leave a comment that has the following info:

a) If you are a hot chick who has a thing for fat Jewish men. (kidding! …sort of…)

1) If you are going to Web20expo (or would if you got the pass)

2) If I asked the person that knows you best to describe you with one word, what would that word be and why.

3) I will pick a winner at midnight Monday MST.

Should be fun! See you in SF.

  • a. I use to be sorta hot. and re: Jewish men, whatever it takes. It is a recession after all ;)
    1. I don't have plans to go although I check the site, search for options and pray that my clients will ask me to go
    2. Tech-groupie - I absolutely nerd out over tech shows and start-ups - it is all I have known for the past 12 years and I can't get enough.
    3. We are 10 minutes out from midnight and I am of course adding my two cents at the 11th hour.

    Fingers crossed....

    a. n/a (but dating a hot jewish chick....we could leverage that)
    1. Definitely would go. Serial Conference Ho.
    2. Interested. Quite simply, love life, love learning, love engagement with others.
    3. Thanks for the opportunity. Very Cool. ~ Peace, @jbinfrisco
  • Hey Micah - great to see you in Austin and will be right behind you walking the halls at Web 2.0. Actually our CTO will be with me so I want to intro you. Cool that you have outbrain on your blog. Will ping you later this week.
  • a) If you are a hot chick who has a thing for fat Jewish men. (kidding! …sort of…)
    -- Well since I am a fat white guy who has dated Jewish chicks this might be a scary thing.

    1) If you are going to Web20expo (or would if you got the pass)
    I would love to go to Web20expo since I have never been. Budgets have been very tight this year but this is a conference I hear is worth attending. The Web 2.0 landscape is shifting and I feel that it is important to be there this year. If I win I will cover the event on behalf of whoever you want and I will pimp lots of Freshbook swag and tell them how much I love being a customer. Plus, I used to live in SF years ago so I can stay at a friends house.

    2) If I asked the person that knows you best to describe you with one word, what would that word be and why.
    Connector. I go to lots of networking events and what I am known for is connecting people together that need one another in some way. This happens in my online networks as well.

    3) I will pick a winner at midnight Monday MST.
    -- Sweet. I hope it is me.

    Hi, Micah. I'm running Web2Open this year. If you find yourself near our info table, stop by and say hi!

    -Sarah
  • I will 100% swing by. Looking forward to it!
  • a) If you are a hot chick who has a thing for fat Jewish men. (kidding! …sort of…)
    You know I already adore you and I don't know about fat Jewish men but I do kind of have a gravitation towards men with dark hair and big noses! (Does that count?)

    1) If you are going to Web20expo (or would if you got the pass)
    I am not currently planning on Web 2.0 Expo but would definitely come if I got the pass! It is one of the few technology conferences I have never been to and I need another trip out to SF! I have already begun poking around for sponsorships to fund the trip out there from Atlanta. All the cool kids are going to Web 2.0 Expo, why can't I? Plus, if I win this badge, you'll get exposure to the corporates, entrepreneurs, bloggers, etc in the Southeast who rarely attend the SF conferences. I could shine the light of Web 2.0 Expo upon them with my online coverage thus creating further brand awareness and extending the interest further across the country!

    2) If I asked the person that knows you best to describe you with one word, what would that word be and why.
    Filthy. (Just kidding.) Tastemaker is one that is thrown around a good bit. I'm a saavy, proactive entrepreneur in the internet space and have been actively working in online marketing across many verticals for over a decade. People trust and follow my opinions, advice and direction due to the experiences I have had and the relationships I foster. I'm also just a generally friendly kinda gal. I am an early adopter in technology, an influencer in entertainment and always on the pulse of culture.

    3) I will pick a winner at midnight Monday MST.
    FANTASTIC! Let me know and I'll book my flight Monday night. ;)
