Dude. There's another word for "Hustlers". They're called flacks. They're disposable.
The problem is that none of these brilliant startup schemes, ycomb or otherwise, is actually important. No one actually cares about them. They are the long tail of everything incarnate. So it takes a real BS hype artist to make angel investors think there's something about them that the world actually needs. In fact, the world does not need any of this garbage; starting with social networking and all the way on down. What the world actually needs and has always needed, in terms of software, and outside the bubble of what passes for creative thinking in the valley these days, are applications that solve problems which were heretofore insoluble. Applications relating to security, analysis, prediction, exploration and organization. Not baubles to amuse ever more sixteen year old girls into showing us their hooters.

There's also a word for hackers whose ideas are good enough to stand on their own without the help of smooth talking, technically illiterate flacks and their associated food and beverage tabs: Billionaires.
