The Story of the Rocky Robot Roosters or the Boulder TechCocktail
Beat that title, ColoradoStartups or Andrew Hyde!
Yes, I am throwing down the blog title gauntlet to my good friends David Cohen and Andrew Hyde, because their posts are so much better than any witty, pithy post I could generate about TechCocktail coming to Boulder.
I had the pleasure to meet Eric Olson when he was on his “walkabout” in New York City. What impressed me most about Eric was that he truly sought to connect people and create long-term relationships. Perhaps thats why he was such a big part of the success of Feedburner. I also learned that I would forever grumble every time spelling his name, because no one, even Merlin Olsen, spelled Olson with two “O’s”.
Here’s a link to the TechCocktail blog, but since its doesnt have Lijit installed, can someone tell me what it says, since I clearly wont read it…
If you are a frequent attendee to the New Tech Meetup or Open Coffee, sign up for a ticket to Boulder TechCocktail. I look forward to welcoming my friends from Chicago, and introducing them both to the city I now call home, and the people I now call friends.

Thanks for the plug Micah! We are very excited to be bringing TECH cocktail to Boulder. It’ll be my first time in Boulder and in Colorado. Being big into cycling I am excited to spend a little time in Boulder checking out the scene.
With regards to the two Os in my last name: Olsen is actually Norwegian and Olson is Swedish (yup, I am a Swede). How’s that for a fun fact? Most people spell my name with an “en” though so I usually have to spell it every time I am talking with a customer service rep on the phone. Every trophy I ever won as a kid was also misspelled…
Another fun fact: my last name, if it weren’t butchered at Ellis Island, would actually be Olausson.
As for the TC site not having lijit installed: we’re working on redesigning some things and perhaps we can work lijit in. Heck, I already have it on my personal blog (and I do love it by the way - huge value add). Will you not rest until every site has the lijit wijit installed? Oh, wait, of course you won’t just like I wouldn’t rest until everyone used FeedBurner. Onward!
And here I thought you were going to have some brilliant alliteration, Micah. Hmmm… Rocky Robot Roosters Roust Rebellious Rednecks and Rambunctious ‘Repreneurs to Rally at Rockin’ TechCocktail?
Haha damn, I was wondering about a TECHcocktail Denver a few weeks ago. Now it’s a) not in Denver, and b) when I’m not in town. I’m gonna blame it on you, Micah.
@eric very interesting stuff. If you need a place to crash, I have space. I have a special script that will ping a link prior to going to it that makes sure lijit is installed first.
What? I could be telling the truth.
@davetaylor I tried to be clever:
Rocky = Boulder
Robot = Tech
Rooster = Cock
Story = Tail
although, I think you beat me in the world of clever.
@devin I would. I am the cause of all things bad…
